This is a great condition and rare "A" series Swift Training Rifle.

Designed to allow instructors to demonstrate holding and aiming of a rifle. It is not a firearm. This particular example is number 9B/1588 and is in good working order and can be cocked and dry fired. When doing this the two blades spring forward, however on this example, one of the blades is missing and whilst the remaining does move forward, it doesn’t fully extend under its own function; but can be manually extended. This part would benefit from a clean and oiling to function fully.

During WWII they were purchased by the Royal Air Force and saw use with the Home Guard. There were two main models of Swift training rifle made available over a period of about three war years. These were the A and B series, which were each loosely based on the Lee–Enfield No.3 or P14 (Pattern 1914) rifle.

A very interesting piece of wartime history.

This example is otherwise in fantastic condition, bearing in mind its age and overall use. No obvious chips/scratches/dents etc. some time spent treating the wood, will make this look fantastic for display.

All photos taken are of the actual item for sale. We only have 1 available for sale, these are becoming increasingly rare over time as they make their way in to collections etc.

This is purely a display/teaching piece and has no capability of firing anything and was never made to.
